Bingo. Without this, it's really hard to judge.

In the early 90s we had two defective NIB Yamaha receivers (and, just for the irony, no, I don't remember what the issues were, except they were not the same issue). The rep, whom I had known for fifteen years at that point, thought I must have been doing something wrong. Nope. Yamaha found them defective. And we never had another defective unit.
