Just how much margin do you think the 8ks will have? I don’t expect them to have anymore than the 4ks when they were new. Sure Sony’s are better than others, but have one bad tv and the profit on it is gone dealing with the warranty.
On a related note, Sunday I listened to a podcast on security issues. According to the host, the tv manufacturers have finally even killed their own profit margin on TVs. Their strategy now is to sell your data collected from the smart TVs.
We are making enough margin on the higher end TV's we can absorb a service call and still make money. Without giving away too much we could do about 30 service calls on a good 8K TV and at least break even.
