When I connect hardware to my iMac it simply works. When I attach hardware to my Windows 10 laptop all I ever get is:
"Windows is searching for a solution". It never, ever finds one.
I gave up trying to connect a URC remote which uses Active Sync to my Windows 10 laptop and had to dig out a Windows 7 machine to get it to connect. Whatever good the Bill Gates Foundation does in the world, it will never be enough to atone for the sins of Microsoft.
To be fair, I think URC made a very poor decision in designing a remote control around a PDA/desktop sync function. That never made much sense to me. Like why? Just an attempt to save writing some basic upload/download code?

Windows 10 automatically loads the latest driver. If you go to Device Manager you'll probably see your adapter has an issue. You need to force it to use the driver from 2008. Do a web search for the following driver.
PL2303_Prolific_Vista_332102
Thanks, Mark. That jives with what I was reading. And make sure it's set to COM1 if you can.
