buzz,
just as I was asking The Man for his take on emitters of other companies, I was discussing Blink-IRs because they are out there. Plus, if you go to diagnose a system and you can't see any LEDs blinking, you have to get out your phone to check for actual IR anyway. Blink-IRs are only helpful for diagnosis, and only if you already know they are there.
