Been in California over 40 years and recall maybe a half dozen earthquakes I've felt, two of which actually had some considerable shaking. I've yet to experience a mudslide and just recently have been impacted by fires for the first time as I just moved to Thousand Oaks. It's not as bad as it may seem to be out here...

I lived in the state for north of 30 years and only felt a few earthquakes. Luckily I was elsewhere when the big ones hit. We dealt with a bit of smoke in the south bay when Malibu had fires several years ago, but pretty minor.

With over 900 miles of coastline, lakes throughout the state, the lowest point in the lower 48, and the highest point in the lower 48 there are no shortage of activities. The winters in LA are pretty mild to boot. Some 40 million people live in the state for some reason or another.
When good enough is not good enough.
