At some point the manufacturers will realize that residences need these products, so noise has to be reduced. At this point they're still thinking everything goes into a noisy but isolated closet.

I've seen this kind of thing before. In the late 90s the tech guy at Faroudja was stunned when I asked why their $27,000 line quadrupler didn't have IR control. It was beyond their imagination that product would EVER be found in a residence (and we had two such systems!). To their credit, their next model had IR control in addition to RS232.

I wonder if the POE mfrs are noticing this trend. Call 'em up and clue them in! Surely they''ll respond if they think people will buy it.
