That about sums it up. We have Frontier FIOS, with only 100 Mbps internet and actual dial tone (not VoIP).
FWIW, speedtest.net just now says 12 ms, 103 down, 79 up.
The bill just went up 45% because the two year period is over. Ouch to the tune of $750 per year if I just sit still and take it.
Off to check on alternative services.... advice appreciated!
"Only" 100Mbps? What are you doing that actually requires higher speed?
Call Customer Retention- they're the ones who can get this to a reasonable price but A) know what the competitors are offering and B) make them understand that you're willing to leave them- it costs less to keep customers than to set up new ones.
