You're not saying what you think is being done that makes things more difficult. Expressing oneself incompletely makes things more difficult!
IR Scrutinizer requires some codes to be able to generate the entire set. That requires a remote that can issue some of those commands. So no, talking about getting a Pronto, etc, is not making things more difficult than needed.
