You cant possibly be expected to cover product that has lightning damage unless you were negligent somehow like attaching the lift to a copper bar that connects to a lighting rod lol. Homeowners insurance might cover the lighting damage.

Gears warranty probably wont cover lightning damage.

If its a good customer you might want to give them a break on labor but IMO it shouldnt be expected.
