Have you tried bypassing the AVR and running video directly to display? Have you tried adjusting output resolution of DVR? I have not had any issues running Hik Vision products through AVR's or Matrix Switches.
Yes it seems happy direct to a tv. I still don’t get why the thing will work thru the receiver if I hang an additional monitor on it’s hdmi 2 output. It will even send it out the zone 2 HDMI. I asked the camera guy to set it to 1080p. I did not verify that he actually did. I’ll check that out first Monday. Encouraging that you have them working this way in the field.
