It wouldn't work stuck to the outside of the flip down door? When I shined a flashlight on it last night, the door is made of that dark purplish opaque (to IR) material. IR should pass thru.
For $250 more (double the price) you can have an IR jack on the back. Plus an RS232 connector, analog audio out, and detachable power cord. :)
