I've kept the van clean and organized on my own time for ever so I would be more than happy to do it on the clock!!
The few times when there wasn't any work,I felt the pain for the owner's lack of income and was happy to do what ever needed to be done!(within reason)
Paint the showroom,install new flooring,fix the plumbing,upgrade lighting,fix his lawnmower or weed eater,no problem!

Never feel pain for the owner. When he is raking it in you don’t share in the wealth. When they complain it’s slow and say see you in a week going on vacation or pull up in a new Benz. You feel bad? Bosses have learned how to lay on the guilt trip. So it is slow for a few days. Next week brings in 50k. STF up with the guilt trip shlt and I need to stay busy. Remember I’m salary buddy and won’t get paid more staying late next week on that 50k job you need done in 3 days.
Doing a little work around facility is not much to ask for. The rest, screw that.
