You are correct. I should not have used the word gimmick. For many people that are 'trying' it, the word gimmick fits. But with what I have read from all the forum boards, you are putting together a very robust and extended voice control setup. So that is no longer a gimmick.
But I personally still hate voice control. Anything that I have to be careful of what I say, learn to talk a different way, or deal with listening to others tell me that; I will pass. I unplugged the echo and google home devices I was testing months ago. And no one in my house has missed it. For a family, dealing with voice control can be really frustrating. For someone living by themselves or with just one other person in the house, it can be OK.
