Why would a car dealership need that type of network?

It could be to assist in doing business...
PMG's* flagship store, Longo Toyota, is the world's largest dealership and the #1 Toyota retailer in the U.S. since 1967. Longo Lexus serves as the #1 Lexus dealership in the Western U.S. since 1990 and Longo Scion ranks as the #1 Scion store since the brand's inception in 2003.

In addition to their main stuff, they probably need good networking for the DMV office that resides within the doors, as well as the AAA office, not to mention the Subway and Starbucks. The 24 hour service department (maybe that's just the Toyota side) and the two acres of cars stored underground...

Of course, it could just be, as someone said, just a case of the salesman falling for another salesman's pitch!

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
