I like the open tops.
I know those of you that travel (airplanes) for work need closed top.
Some had issues with tools being borrowed/stolen, so closed top it nice.
I don't use my bag when I do roughins. I bring in a sharpy and cutters and off I go.
At trimouts, my bag stays with me (I don't use belt pouches).
I'm also a one man shop so no co-workers asking me borrow my tools. If I bring a once-a-year helper, I know they'll be using my tools.
Open top allows me see everything and my tote never rolled or fell while driving so no worries there.
Lately i bring my closed top Veto XL and an open top CLC. The Veto has 47 pounds of hand tools in it. It used to be 35 but now i have all these specialty Stripper/Crimpers for RJ45 and Coax connectors. Crestron has a tool, RG11 has a tool LMR has a tool. Its getting pretty ridiculous.
I take out my commonly used hand tools and put them in the open top bag with parts/drill/clean up stuff etc. I take the CLC around to every room with me terminating. I use the CLC for trash also. When i am done i put the tools and parts away and dump the trash out of the CLC.
