In my own system I have a Niles SI-1230 running a bunch of speakers through out the house. In my kitchen for speakers I have a crap old pair of JBL bookshelf speakers on top of my kitchen cabinets.
It's time for an upgrade. I can do a pair of in wall speakers above the cabinets or a pair of in ceiling.
The issue is I want more bass. The volume I get with the SI-1230 is plenty. But I feel that (at least in my experience) the in-walls or in ceilings will be lacking in bottom end.
If I go in ceiling I can do back boxes as I have attic access, but I'm really considering a sub-woofer. I don't feel like in ceiling is an option. That'll be a hard sell to the wife and there is already a lot going on up there with lighting etc. Above the cabinets I have 11.5" of wall height and 14" of width for anything inwall.
I have a 250watt plate amp from a sub who's woofer met its end.
Can anyone give recommendations for a compact passive in wall sub?
Or, a way to get some decent bottom end from just in ceiling/wall speakers.
Thanks.
Craig.
My wife says I can't do sarcasm. She says I just sound like an a$$hole.
