We got it going, pretty easy. His was already paired with the "base unit".
What we did was connect it to the optical out of the old Denon to the unit. Connected an optical/ coax from each of the AppleTV, Fios STB, DVD player> Set the output for Zone 4 and programmed Zone 4 to come on anytime the Denon is on and follow the source of the main zone. It seemed to work out fine. The client has an app on his phone to control the volume. He actually walked about 150' away from the base unit and still heard the audio!!
