I have a client that has one of these he wants connected:

[Link: resound.com]

I'm going out tomorrow to see about it. I'm worried about a bad delay it may cause. It's an older system (8 years or so) so I don't know if I can even use the optical behind the TV. My thought it may have less delay (but not sure). The AVR is a Denon so I don't know it it'll allow to let the audio go to the TV.

I tried to get one working on Saturday, but could not figure out how to pair it to his hearing aid. He was going to contact the hearing aid provider for more information.

Saw one work once before with another brand, so although I am worthless to help you today, I have seen it done.

We got it going, pretty easy. His was already paired with the "base unit".
What we did was connect it to the optical out of the old Denon to the unit. Connected an optical/ coax from each of the AppleTV, Fios STB, DVD player> Set the output for Zone 4 and programmed Zone 4 to come on anytime the Denon is on and follow the source of the main zone. It seemed to work out fine. The client has an app on his phone to control the volume. He actually walked about 150' away from the base unit and still heard the audio!!

Pairing is easy. The client has to take his hearing aids out and flip something up and back down. I think it's the battery door.

The resound stuff works really well. The problem I've never solved is what do I connect it to on the AVR so you get full sound and no delay. I thought about some 2, but that's going to have a timing issue. Left and right on Main zone won't give you voices. I ended up connecting it to the analog outputs on the sat receiver

Sony AVRs dont have a delay on Z2&3. If they do you can delay Z1 audio and video to match everthing.

ES1100 and up

And correct me if I'm wrong but it's also the only popular AVR that will take HDMI signal and pipe (down convert) it to other zones without the need for analog RCA cables for each source, right?

Did one a few years ago. Easy to install but watch out. Client had an Apple Router and the Resound was on same frequency and would knock out the network.

Usually the delay is on z1 because 2 & 3 use analong on most receivers. That can't be adjusted

Yamaha does too, but I think it's RXA 10xx and up.
