At four years old, assume the hard drive is about to fail.
Why is it necessary to move the main box out of the bedroom?
In the current X1 systems, there is one large box with smaller "slave" boxes at other locations. One has a little better control at the large box, but most users don't notice the difference.
When the current box fails, you may have some difficulty avoiding X1. Also, if that old bedroom TV has only component video inputs, you'll be digging around for little black boxes that arrive without any manufacturer's markings. In some cases you may be able to replace an older box with one that has component outputs, but it is the luck of the draw.
