The lines in the picture. Purple and green? If so, bad box. I have seen many HR20-23 go bad with those symptoms. Band -aided a few by using HDMI, but eventually, it will fail completely. Might not be the cause or solution to your problem, but I would replace the box regardless.

No, the lines in the picture were just lighter sections of the picture. They looked very similar to how a the lines from a ground loop look as far as color, but were stationary and had a lot more of them.
