This disease is spreading!
This is not an HDCP issue, instead it is a current threshold firmware update issue (I think).
Here is how HDMI works:
The sink side of the chain (in this case the AVR) supplies voltage and current to the output of the source (DirecTV). Usually this works just fine, however recently we are starting to see this HDCP issue crop up (it hit my in February on my LA job site), lucky for me I was able to diagnose and overcome this issue (I think).
Here are my thoughts:
IMO a recent (and spreading) DirecTV update has raised the threshold requirements for the current supplied over the TMDS feeds.
Here are possible solutions:
Change HDMI cable connected to the DirecTV to a short fat "old school" type.
Place our HDM-AIO inline on the output of the DirecTV unit (not the least expensive option).
