Three things I find strange about this story.
First... in order to have Alexa pay attention to you. You have to say “Alexa...”
Second... how was this Alexa device connected to a landline?
Third... he was 28, I assume she’s around the same age... how do they know what a landline is?

First - Yeah, that was my initial worry and really my only concern on this one. Me no likey.
Second - Perhaps when they (what I read) said landline they just meant a home phone, which could have been voip and on the same network? (I honestly know jack about voip services, though.)
Third - When I was 28 landlines were still a thing (kinda) and they'd have been old enough to be used to them? They had probably used them a lot when they were younger.
But whatever. Big brother is watching and listening.
