In that era I had lots of contractors come to me and attempt to goad me into pre wiring for free. They'd want me to take on a whole tract of houses. The deal was that they'd give my name to the home owner in the end. I should be thankful for the offer.

I also had restaurant owners come in and ask me to outfit their facility for free and they'd give me lots of "free" publicity. Fat chance. Most of these guys never got to the point of opening their doors. One guy wanted a B&O system in his restaurant (for free, of course). Sure, that would be a glorious system -- fit for purpose. That restaurant never opened. I guess he couldn't find enough kitchen appliance suppliers to donate equipment.
