Are you sure that software that came with your old MX-900 is actually CCP? Because that remote originally used the older "MX Editor" software which won't work with the MX-990 or MX-890. The MX-900 was later added to the CCP software, so just checking to be sure you actually do have CCP (not MX Editor) before spending big money on an MX-990 or MX-890 in case you don't realize there is a difference between the two programs.
I briefly handled an MX-990 at Magnolia and i actually prefer the balance and feel and smaller size of my MX-890, but maybe because i'm so familiar with the MX-890. I use it almost completely by feel and rarely look at the screen or lighted buttons so that has something to do with it too. The MX-990 felt of similar build quality and tactile button feel as my MX-890.
