Not so! The software doesnt pull the programming from the remote. The software references programming held on Logitechs servers, which is linked to the original username/password that was created when the remote was first programmed. The serial number (or whatever unique identifier Logitech uses for the remote) is also tied to that programming. Thats why you gotta use lost password. Once you answer the two "security questions", it looks at the serial number on the remote and retrieves the programming file from Logitechs servers, not the remote itself.
Never used HighFi's solution - maybe that works just as well
