On chemo several years ago, I experienced a few things that might come with old age.
The one that comes to mind was the moment in the shower when I was washing my hair -- me eyes were closed -- and I suddenly realized I was in the middle of falling over. I managed to catch myself.
For more than a year after that, when I closed my eyes in the shower, I stuck out my elbow to touch the wall so I'd have a reliable indication of when I was not just standing upright.
I wonder what other kinds of subtle coping methods people develop as they grow old. Older.
