I have had them freeze entirely and lose wifi but fortunately haven't experienced what you described. I was just at a friend's house who has an 850d, one day he couldn't turn the TV on so he moved the plug thinking it was the outlet. The outlet was fine, I explained to him his TV more than likely froze and told him how to reboot it with the remote.
