I missed the LED indication information, if it's in the manual. I'll see what they have to say about this.
They were purchased from Best Buy and appeared to be new in the box.
They're a couple of feet from the ceiling, and not near heat ducts. The air up there is about 80 degrees.
Thanks so much for your help. They're more than forty miles away... but I'm going to be not far from them on Friday, so I can stop in or whatever we get to by then.
