WRT the recommendation that a known working remote be aimed at the camera lens of a smart phone- that doesn't work with the iPhone 6 and I suspect it's the same for many newer phones. My iPhone 3 is still able to show the IR, so I kept it. If my Razor (POS) worked, I think it would work for this.
