I did sub work for a guy who installed cameras around a neighborhood. They were mobotix cameras. We installed them on houses around the neighborhood and hooked them up to the houses internet. They set the cameras to record to a NVR at the HOA office where they gave access codes for the cameras to all the residents.
If you didn't want to go thru all that, you can probably put a IP camera with a sd card slot and run a cable down the pole where you can connect a computer to it to see the recordings.
