Maybe this can be tackled another way. Can you set the Cable Box to output stereo or something non Dolby Digital? Maybe even use analogue out? Clearly they don't care about digital surround sound.

That's a great idea Craig, one I should have thought of. I'll just output L/R analog. Problem solved. I did explain to the clients that BD's and DVD's in general should be watched in true Dolby surround. So I can leave the BD player connected as I have it. I love working with older clients but they sure ask for strangest things.
Last question, is there a way to capture a press and hold FROM an OEM remote to any URC remote?
