I've never had issues with a correctly place MRF-350 either. On the other hand, I've never had issues with Harmony RF at all.
I have to say, Harmony is pretty innovative with pushing the abilities of their remote controls. I recently helped another guy with a budget customer. He used the Harmony Elite remote ($300 on sale), which has a Wifi based hub to connect to the network. The hub found a new Samsung TV, Xbox, Apple TV, Caseta Bridge, and Sonos connect on the network automatically, and offered up all the correct drivers for all these devices immediately. It also had cover art for the Sonos Connect as well as basic transport control. I'm pretty confident it would have found the DVD player and AV receiver if those had been newer network based models - they were older models.
(I made it clear that any follow up support visits would be billed hourly).
