I've gotten my fair share of those, which is funny because every surround sound system I have installed, I explain the fact that the rear speakers are effect speakers and explain what that means/entails. I do program my control system to set the sound mode for TV sources so it is set to surround sound. I also set music sources to have an all channel stereo sound mode. I use Yamaha AVRs and it is easy. Any codes missing are available on the CI site.
