It clearly indicates that the original term was home and that hone, through use, must be included in the dictionary. After all, the dictionary's job is to define terms in use, not to decide whether they are correct or not.
After all, here's a classic's definition from Merriam-Webster:
Definition of ain't
1: am not : are not : is not
2: have not : has not
This is still considered wrong in most discussions of grammar and usage, but there it is in a dictionary!
