What did the guy say was the reason he didn't put a lag in the stud? Did he say the box was in the way even though he had 4 togglers in the wall? I like how his defense was that the drywall was installed wrong because there wasn't a screw in the piece that broke.
He didn't put a lag in the stud because he never looked for a stud. He gave that ridiculous answer while looking at the photos in court. The TV was just mounted somewhere on the wall. It's not like it was centered on cabinetry or a center channel speaker. Its a bedroom with plastic bins for clothing so i would wager the homeowner would have been fine with the TV mounted a couple of inches over. Moving it to the left of the work box (where the work box wouldn't be in his way) would have allowed them to lag to the stud.
He called the sheetrock "very cheap" lol. He worked as a QC specialist at a sheetrock plant in a former life :).
