Brent will chime in I'm sure but until then:
I would suspect it is either an EDID issue or a Hot Plug issue. Since the SNAP splitter is powered by it's own supply, I'm not sure if the Hot Plug +5V could be an issue or not.
If an EDID issue, there are HDMI splitters that you can program the EDID to a fixed setting. Effectively managing the EDID for you. Curiously, none of the current Ethereal HDMI splitters do that thou.
