Mounted an outdoor TV today, split the output of a small X1 box, didn't check the model because it worked fine when I left. LG in master, LG outside.

Client calls later, turning one TV off gives NO SIGNAL on other one.  Other erratic behavior.  Turned off SimpLink on both TVs, same issues.

Have you you ever seen HDMI CEC on an X1 box, and a menu item to turn it off? I do note the newer style remote doesn't have a cable box power button. I think it is the voice remote. Should I have had the client yell, "turn off this tv but leave the other one alone" lol.

1x2 splitter is a Snap.

i get to drive out and check it tmrw. Woohoo.

Brent will chime in I'm sure but until then:

I would suspect it is either an EDID issue or a Hot Plug issue. Since the SNAP splitter is powered by it's own supply, I'm not sure if the Hot Plug +5V could be an issue or not.

If an EDID issue, there are HDMI splitters that you can program the EDID to a fixed setting. Effectively managing the EDID for you.
Curiously, none of the current Ethereal HDMI splitters do that thou.

I am going to try another splitter brand for test.

Will double check menus for evidence of CEC still lurking.

Appreciate the advice and all input!

A different brands of splitter seemed to settle things down. The new LG television is a problem, though. It is slow to respond to button presses - sometimes 15-20 sec or so. Try to update firmware, it sticks at 0%. It was the problem I believe, but the diff splitter seems to mask it.

No CEC settings on the Pace box.
