What do you mean by setting? I have personally connected two wires directly onto the motor, touched them together and watched the door open and close. As per the manual ([Link: liftmaster.com]) page 30 (beginning of troubleshooting) 3 Flashes, it states that you can manually short out the wires to test the door operation if you are thinking the hardwired controller is not working.
