Anyone who has DirecTV has probably hit the R arrow key by accident which brings up those TV Apps. I have no use for them and never use them, but hitting the R arrow key brings them up which technically changes the channel and causes me to lose the buffer of the channel I am watching.

So what I would like to do is eliminate the ability of the R Arrow key to work unless another key such as Menu or Guide has been pressed within say 30 seconds. And then be able to use the other arrow keys as a "keep alive" button.

This would work like this: Guide button pressed, awakes R Arrow key. Down arrow pressed, keeps R Arrow live. Number keys selecting channel are pressed, keeps R arrow alive, etc.

30 seconds after last key press R arrow become inactive.

Make sense.

Any suggestions on how to do this? I know I can set a state using variables, but can I change the status of that state with a timer? Or can a state be limited to a set period of time?

Thanks

Of course this would not be needed if DirecTV would let me turn them off. :(
