That is most certainly true.
But as a practical matter I don't know how important that is.
My limited experience suggests that most folks want a system that is easy to use (and reliable) - they dont' seem terribly concerned about the exact appearance of the user interface.
Of course there are exceptions.
This has been my argument for a while. Clients want easy to use and attractive. Clients do not care, typically, whether their interface looks custom or unique to them. I would rather have a clean looking interface that is easy to use then have something custom.
From a business standpoint, quick, easy, repeatable. That is what I want.
