But as a practical matter I don't know how important that is.
My limited experience suggests that most folks want a system that is easy to use (and reliable) - they dont' seem terribly concerned about the exact appearance of the user interface.

Agreed. And for the OP's use, I think Elan is FAR more capable that he needs. As in C4 honestly, I just don't really like the remotes.
