The modem/router, as per my request, is configured by Time Warner to be in "bridged" mode, which is essentially modem only with no other configuring to do. I have a Netgear Nighthawk router configured with all the port forwardings for the project. Any ports I forwarded I can see open except for ports 25, 465, 587.
Time Warner doesn't know why and nothing they can do.
