I've had the same issue with GEN 2 ATVs & URC.
I think their Play/Pause code is just bad.
As of today you can only control a Gen 4 ATV with IR, Apple turned off HID so can't emulate a kb with bluetooth, no IP control without breaking laws in the DMCA.
