But he was indeed a spammer. If you run a forum, you get to recognize them pretty easily. If you had access to the e-mail, it would probably been a dead giveaway and probably would have come up in various on-line spammer lists as mentioned above. I can almost unerringly recognize a spammer e-mail from a legitimate one.
What's particularly stupid is this push to create all of these alternative domain types, when basically you will never get a legitimate contact from any of them. I don't think we have ever had a single legitimate contact that wasn't from one of the long established domains (com, net, org, and a few country ones.) You could just ban all of those other domains and hardly ever miss anything important.
