tk,
welcome to the site. As you can see from the responses:
a.People have signed up and started out in a friendly manner, then turned to trying to sell us crap by pretending it's someone else's product that you think is great;
b.You've been welcomed;
c.You've been suspected of actually being someone else, someone who is, if I understand correctly, on forced hiatus and not able to post right now.

If I were you, I'd stick with response b. Welcome to the site! I can't say we've ever had anyone simply post "hello" as their first post. Usually it's a question or it's a comment on something someone else posted.

Sit back, read, and join in! (Unless, that is, response a or c is you.)
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

It is option (d) Ernie I am afraid: spammer. That alias is registered on many forums with no posts and the clearing house for such aliases shows four reports of being a spammer: [Link: stopforumspam.com]

From what I can tell, he is selling an ISP service.

The tread title reminds me just a little of a man with a revolutionary new wiring system to promote. One that would be completely future proof (unless you ever needed HDMI).
I guarantee I'll tell you the truth and I guarantee I'll tell you what you need to know but I can't guarantee that I'll be telling you anything you want to hear.

What am I missing? Why the suspicion?
Is it the name?
Is it the fact that he didn't post it in the introduce yourself thread?

Maybe this:

"Cynic" - possibly as a pejorative reference to the first Cynics’ shameless rejection of conventional manners and their decision to live on the streets. In common usage, “cynicism” means a disposition to disbelieve in the sincerity or goodness of human motives and actions, and a tendency to express this bysneers and sarcasm.

Haha

It is a classic spammer first post. I have seen hundreds. To confirm, we look them up in stopforumspam database and if there are hits there, it confirms it. There are four reports of that alias there. On our forum, we have actually automated this where posts like this never make it to the forum and the person is banned automatically.

The way you can tell is that the say nothing specific related to the forum in their first posts. That's because they have no idea what we do here.

Many forums have rules about posting links so you see a lot of weird posts like this one...you most post 3 times before you can include links for example. Other forums have rules about introducing yourself so you see a lot of vague "hello everyone" posts. The next bit of suspicion was spelling/grammar.

"My name is Hassan and I have just joined this community, this is my first post here just to say a hello to all the member of this forum. "

Note the perfect spelling...caps on the I then the "i am from asia or russia" grammar...

"just to say a hello" and "all the member of this forum".

English speakers who can spell and use punctuation also know how to phrase sentences properly. No one says "just to say a hello" and members should be plural.

Most people who join forums make their first post about something like "where can i download URC software?". They don't drop by to say hello to everyone.

Are you actually criticizing the perfect spelling that is there, then criticizing the mistakes? Make up your mind!

"just to say a hello" and "all the member of this forum".

English speakers who can spell and use punctuation also know how to phrase sentences properly.

As we have seen here, especially with KOT, your mileage may vary on that one! And I am tempted to call you out a couple of times in the future. We'll see.

No one says "just to say a hello" and members should be plural.

Mac, you may be a bit paranoid. You're putting yourself up as an expert, but you missed the fact that the first sentence is a run-on sentence. There should be a period between "community" and "this." Those should be two separate sentences.

I can completely relate to a non-native speaker of English saying "to say a hello." I can see the mistake of "all the member." We don't know what his native language is.

I've recently spoken with people of different nationalities who are in Saudi Arabia. Let me tell you a couple of things you wouldn't expect.

In New York, "okay, okay," means go away, especially if said with an attitude. In Saudi it means "yes, definitely."

In Saudi, for Filipinos (and perhaps others), to say same, you say "same." To say completely and totally identical, you say "same same." There's also "schway," which means "be careful," and "schway schway," which means "be very careful."

And one that totally cracked up the hotel manager when I shared it with him: when someone says "yes," they mean "yes." When they say "yes, yes," they mean "I have no idea what you're talking about."

Most people who join forums make their first post about something like "where can i download URC software?". They don't drop by to say hello to everyone.

Mac, you're the complaining expert here and you didn't capitalize that "i." And you ended the sentence with a question mark and a period. The quotes can come after or before the end punctuation; it depends.

He could be a real guy. We should just wait to see what he says next.

Perfect spelling and poor grammar usually mean language translation tool has been used. Tell tale sign of a spammer.

Not following what you mean here. No English speaker says "just to say a hello".

I am an expert at spotting forum spammers. I have been actively using message forums since the early days of the internet.

I can completely relate to a non-native speaker of English saying "to say a hello." I can see the mistake of "all the member." We don't know what his native language is.

Does that guy also pop into a forum and say hello to everyone without posting about anything else? I doubt it. It's a puzzle once you have more than one piece. Everything about this guys post screams spammer.

You are making my case for me.

He could be a real guy. We should just wait to see what he says next.

You seem to be okay with spelling and grammar but you suffer greatly with reading and comprehension. I often wonder if your over the top focus on spelling is causing you to miss out on most of the conversation.

Try reading my post again with your teacher filter turned off. Ingest everything i wrote, chew it up...let it swirl around in there and thinking about it for a while.
