they can become sticky, if the lady of the house uses hand cream it seem to make the coating go sticky, get yourself some IPA ( isopropanol alcohol) and wipe down the remote , 2 things can happen depending on what hand cream has been used. either it will be come less sticky or the rubber coating will be completely removed and you will be left with the silver plastic.
