HDMI Audio extractor in-line between source and the matrix, output from the extractor (optical or coax) to the receiver. This way the receiver should get the DD signal first, and the matrix will downmix the HDMI outputs to 2ch stereo. On the receiver, just assign the inputs so that for video source x it uses the optical or coax input for audio, not the HDMI.
