Remove the variable completely, delete it. Re-add a new variable and first set it to your off status (0 or false). You can double click the variable to change the status in your macro if you must. Your remote is defaulting to you on status (probably 1 or true, depending how you set it up). See if that works.
Thanks. It's getting late so I will do that in the morning. I'm pretty confident that your suggestion will work.
I've been playing with this and it finally dawned on me that after a charge or battery pull, the variable is no longer set, so my Power On Macro has nothing to do. The power on macro as I have it requires the power state be set to OFF.
IF [Variable[Cable Box On], False]
IR[CABLE.043.POWER]
ELSE
VAR[Cable Box On = TRUE]
To prove this out I programmed a button that sets the power on variable to False. I then pulled and replaced the battery, press the button to set the variable to False, and my original Power-On macro works every time.
I just need to incorporate this into my Power On macro as you suggest. I'll let you know how it goes.
