I actually have a fully-loaded HP Zbook 14 (which is just a dual core machine, but more than enough for my purposes). i7 CPU, matte FHD IPS screen, 16gb, dedicated graphics, backlit keyboard, gigabit Ethernet, a well-working fingerprint reader... it's my first HP, but it's turned out to be a nice system with a very thoughtful design.
True, it only has a 240gb SSD... but here's the thing: almost everything is user serviceable in this thing, without affecting your warranty. Put in any 2.5" SSD you want, add on a second mSATA drive, WAN, replace the Wifi or RAM... there's even a removable battery. Plus, three years onsite warranty included as stock is very nice.
Personally, I think Apple makes very nice hardware, and their laptop pricing has actually been coming down into quite reasonable ranges for what you get. But as dedicated Windows systems, they are still sub-par... and since Apple only grudgingly offers Windows compatibility, this is to be expected.
