I used something similar ONE TIME.
I then went with blind wiring all in ceiling and in wall speakers, and making my cuts after the rock went up.
If the job isn't too far away, I think it's worth a trip to the job site just after the rock goes up so you can cut your speaker holes and not worry about leaving a mess.
Nice part of doing it this way?
If you mess up, the rock guys can fix it and all is cool (you are friends with the rock guys, right?).
